Orthodontic Braces and Aligners

Orthodontic treatment deals with straightening of mal-posed teeth. Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned inappropriately. Crooked, Crowded teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain. Orthodontic treatment is not only for teens, teeth can be moved at any age. The benefit of orthodontic treatment involves a healthier mouth, a more pleasing aesthetics and harmonious Function.

Metal Braces-

Metal braces move teeth by applying pressure and consist of small brackets cemented to the teeth, connected by a wire and held to the brackets by rubber bands. The wire is regularly tightened to gradually shift your teeth and jaw.

Ceramic Brace -

Ceramic braces functions same as traditional braces, same size and shape, except that they have tooth-coloured or clear brackets which blends to the colour of the teeth. Nowadays tooth-coloured wires can be conjugated with ceramic brackets to make it more invisible.

Lingual Braces-

Lingual Brackets are kept on the back of the teeth. The main reason to choose Lingual braces is that they are invisible. They are more common among adults than children. Other advantage includes ease of sports activity preventing the risk of injury to cheeks and lips.

Aligners-

Like traditional braces, aligners are designed to move teeth a little at a time. Thealigners are replicas of your teeth available as plastic invisible trays. When the trays are worn, it puts gentle pressure on the teeth slightly repositioning them. You need to change them gradually as recommended by us during the treatment.

Myofunctional Therapy

Myofunctional appliances are used to treat the underdeveloped jaws or to control the overgrowth of one of the jaw in growing children. This treatment helps to prevent and treat the underlying skeletal and dental malocclusion. Several Removable or fixed appliances are used for such purpose. This therapy also helps to correct habits such as thumb sucking, tongue thrusting, Mouth breathing which further enhance normal growth and development of Oro- facial structures. Among Adults, who are non-growing, Fixed Functional appliances are used to correct dental problem.

Tooth filling/ Restoration/ Build-up

Loss of tooth structure due to tooth decay or caries are filled with dental restorative materials for preserve the integrity and the function of the tooth. Teeth can be filled with material such as Gold, Silver amalgam, or tooth-coloured plastic materials called Composite restoration.

Root Canal Treatment

The tooth decay that has been extended to the root of the teeth or pulp of the teeth cannot be treated solely with simple dental restoration. A specialized procedure called as Root Canal Treatment needs to be done. Pain and swelling around the tooth is the common symptom. RCT involves three steps :

Partial and Complete Denture

Dentures are a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They are made of acrylic resin sometimes combined with metal attachments. Complete dentures replace all the teeth; partial dentures are considered when some natural teeth are present in the mouth and are retained by metal clasps attached to the natural teeth.

Crown and Bridge

Crowns are a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, appearance, to hold a bridge in place or cover a dental implant. A dental bridge is a fixed dental prosthesis used to replace one or several missing teeth by permanently joining an artificial tooth to adjacent teeth or dental implants. Bridges are cemented permanently into place.

Gum diseases

Gingivitis: Gingivitis is the inflammation of gums. In the early stage of gingivitis, bacteria in plaque build-up, causing the gums to become inflamed and to easily bleed during tooth brushing. Oral prophylaxis and Oral hygiene measures needs to be carried out Periodontitis: If gingivitis is left untreated, it progresses to periodontitis leading to severe recession and tooth loss. It can be a risk factor for heart and lung diseases. Symptoms include swollen, red and tender gums.Treatment includes cleaning the pockets around teeth to prevent damage to surrounding bone. Teeth Scaling Teeth cleaning procedure is called Scaling. Ultrasonic scalers are used for this. Scaling is a painless procedure. Periodontal Surgery Advanced cases of tooth recession and bone loss require periodontal flap/ regenerative surgeries. USE OF LASERS for soft tissue oral surgeries: Gum Surgeries such as Frenectomy, Gingival recontouring and gingivectomy, Gum flap surgery are performed with the help of lasers. The laser removes diseased tissue and kills living bacteria without compromising healthy gum, tooth, and bone tissue. Traditional surgery is can be very painful as it requires cutting and suturing of the gums which is not required in case of Lasers.

Tooth Extraction

Grossly decayed or severely mobile tooth which couldn’t be saved with any other dental procedure needs to be extracted. Tooth extractions are done under local anaesthesia. We put all the efforts to keep this procedure painless and comfortable.

Wisdom tooth removal/ Surgical extraction

The wisdom teeth or third molars are the last teeth to erupt. Most people have four wisdom teeth, one in each corner. Wisdom teeth usually grow through the gums during the late teens or early twenties. Wisdom tooth removal is recommended when there isn’t enough room in the mouth for the wisdom teeth to grow properly or wisdom teeth sometimes is placed in improper position (horizontal/ Vertical). Hence, they become lodge in bone and soft tissue and are called as impacted teeth.Removal of such impacted teeth is called Disimpaction. It is a minor oral surgical procedure which involves following steps:

Dental Implants

Dental implants are actually a small post made of metal that are placed into the bone socket where teeth are missing. The implant is covered with a replacement tooth called a crown. Ordinary bridges are attached to teeth on either side of the space left by the missing tooth. An advantage of implants is that no adjacent teeth need to be prepared or ground down to hold your new replacement tooth/teeth in place. Healthier gums and adequate bone support are mandatory to receive an implant. You must also commit in keeping these structures healthy. Careful oral hygiene and regular dental visits are critical to the long-term success of dental implants.

Full mouth reconstruction refers to rebuilding and/or replacing all of the teeth in a patient’s mouth. Full mouth reconstructions (rehabilitations) are needed when the oral health as a whole has deteriorated due to multiple dental problems.
